Memorial Day weekend is finally here, but for some people this day of honoring men and women who have sacrificed their lives while serving in the Armed Forces has become a day partying and excessive drinking. For this reason, AAA Arizona is offering a free towing service on Memorial Day so that the Grand Canyon state will see fewer drunk drivers on the roads.
The Tipsy Tow service will be available from 6:00 p.m. on Sunday May 30 to 6:00 a.m. on Monday May 31. The White Mountain Independent states that if Arizona drivers call 1-800-AAA-HELP during these hours and request a "Tipsy Tow," they can receive a free ride home with a free vehicle tow of up to 10 miles. The program is open anybody, even if you're not an AAA member.
Arizona's Tipsy Tow program started on Memorial Day 2009 and was the first free program of its kind in the state. With free rides, motorists can avoid a drunk driving arrest and avoid the expensive costs of hiring an Arizona DUI attorney. All Phoenix DUI attorneys will admit that the best way to avoid a DUI conviction is simply to avoid drinking and driving.
The AAA auto club estimates that even first-time DUI conviction can costs drivers over $10,000 in fines, penalties, restitution, ignition interlock installation and maintenance, legal fees and increased insurance costs. Remember, Arizona has some of the toughest drunk driving laws in the country, so it's important to know your legal rights as a motorist and avoid driving irresponsibly.
