Surprise Police Search For People With Outstanding DUI Warrants

People with DUI warrants in the town of Surprise may want to be on the lookout for law enforcers when they're in their homes this week. According to ABC News, the Surprise Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety are conducting a search for surprise residents with outstanding DUI warrants.

The search began yesterday and will continue until the weekend, where authorities are visiting the homes and businesses of those with outstanding warrants for driving under the influence charges. As of Tuesday, there were more than 300 DUI warrants in the town of Surprise.

In the state of Arizona, failing to appear for a court date when being charged with DUI can result with an outstanding DUI warrant in your name. An outstanding warrant can carry additional consequences to a DUI charge as the suspect can face additional criminal charges, including charges for failing to appear in court or failing to fulfill the court ordered requirements.

Anybody with an outstanding DUI arrest warrant can self-surrender to the courts Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Surprise City Court, located at 6081 North Civic Center Plaza Suite 105. Many people who have been arrested for DUI do not show up for their court date because they're scared to face the consequences or feel that they're innocent and shouldn't have to go to court. However, simply not showing up for a court date is never a good idea. If you feel that you've been charged for drunk driving related crime that you did not commit, you can always contact an Arizona DUI attorney to help you with criminal defense procedures.
